Diabetes is a disease that affects the body's ability to use and store the sugars consumed in food. Eating healthy is one of the most important lifestyle components of managing the disease.

MSD, an OPPI company member, initiated the SPARSH programme to offer comprehensive diabetes management, including diet counseling, exercise counseling, education, and physician training. Patients should have knowledge of the tests that are run and the drugs they are taking to regulate the disease. When patients are empowered with the right knowledge, they are able to make the best decisions for their bodies. Currently, a team of 70 care counselors provide services to over 15,000 patients. Over 35,000 patients have received support since the inception of the programme.

Around 25,000 patients are referred for active counseling by physicians and enrolled patients receive support from a dedicated ‘Care Counselor’.
